DIGITAL INDIA : its relevance and drawbacks in the contemporary world

Everything has its positives well as negatives. Being a responsible citizen it becomes necessary for us to thoroughly look into the pros and cons of every initiative taken in our country and then decide what will be the best for it. Digital India is a very constructive initiative taken by this pro active government and it can bring digital renaissance in our country. It becomes a necessity for every developing country
especially countries like India which have a huge diversity geographically to enhance connectivity throughout its territory and this can only be achieved through a digital revolution. Surely, Digital India will enhance the connectivity but is it faultless? We don’t need to go in depth to find the answer to this question. All of us are completely aware of the impact excess use of technology can have on us. Excess use of all technological equipments ranging from mobile phones to wi-fi modems has been scientifically proven to be carcinogenic. Though increased digitalisation would mean an exponential increase in the standard of living it would also impact the average health of an individual. Digitalisation would mean that even remote villages would not be off radar and people even the farthest of places would remain connected but another drawback is that it would lead to the discharge of an increased amount of Electronic waste or popularly E-waste. The waste management of India which is already choking with the increased waste production would feel the heat of this increased burden.

Digitalisation would also ensure that the cultural ethos of India remain intact as it would serve as a unifying force. A great requirement of the world at the present is that it needs the Indian cultural heritage to remain intact. This is a golden opportunity for us to revolutionise our cultural glory and promote cultural and spiritual connectivity through digital connectivity. The international peace is lacking in today’s society and the Indian spiritual heritage has the potential to induce this in our society. We must promote it along the same lines as YOGA. Aurobindo had introduced the concept of mass spiritualism and this is our chance to make it a reality using the DIGITAL INDIA.
